Amber’s Day to Shine at the Reverse Rett LEAP Conference 2025

Sunflower House
At the heart of Manchester, within the elegant Edwardian Hotel and historic Free Trade Hall, an unforgettable event unfolded, and Amber from Sunflower House was right at the centre of it.

Amber, who lives with Rett syndrome, attended the Reverse Rett LEAP Conference 2025, a landmark event created to Learn, Educate, Advocate, and Partner, and she did all that and more. Supported by her key worker Sharon, Amber spent the day surrounded by her loving family and a room full of people working towards a brighter future for individuals living with Rett syndrome.

The conference was particularly meaningful for Amber’s family. Her mum, Rachael, and stepdad, Andy, played a central role in organising the event, both are active members of the Reverse Rett team and passionate advocates for change. Alongside Amber were her siblings, Finley and Issy, making the occasion a full family celebration of hope, research, and community.

The day featured inspiring talks, the latest scientific developments, and the opportunity for families and professionals to connect, learn, and support one another. The warm, inclusive atmosphere made the event as uplifting as it was informative, and according to Amber and her family, the food was absolutely delicious too!

Reverse Rett is a UK medical research charity with a mission to accelerate treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects around 1 in 10,000 girls and even fewer boys. The charity focuses on funding research, raising awareness, and providing vital information and support to families. Their work is driven by lived experience, scientific innovation, and a fierce determination to change what’s possible for people living with Rett.
